Come listen to Mike Heaney, our Oxfordshire Morris expert, as he shares his wealth of knowledge on the history of English Morris dancing and introduces his newly published book – The Ancient English Morris Dance. Mike has spent over forty years of his professional career at the Bodleian Library, at the same time pursuing his interests in folk custom and local history. He’s an acknowledged authority on morris dancing and is musician for the Eynsham Morris, having lived in the village for over 25 years.
He has recently edited (and contributed to) the books Percy Manning: The Man who Collected Oxfordshire (2017) and The Histories of Morris (2018) and featured in the recent documentary film on the composer (and morris dancer) George Butterworth, All My Life’s Buried Here (2019).
