Jackie Oates and Megan Henwood (with support from Owl Light Trio)

Jackie Oates and Megan Henwood (with support from Owl Light Trio)
Jackie Oates must surely be considered one of the mainstays of an accomplished, informed and stylistically individual English traditional music scene that began in the early 2000s and continues to thrive. But while Jackie has continued to perform the concerts that earned her a reputation as one of the country’s best loved folk performers, and make the solo records that regularly rack up glowing broadsheet reviews, it’s as a collaborator and contributor that she’s focused on of late, including of course with Megan Henwood. Since winning a BBC2 Young Folk Award in 2009 (along with her brother Joe) Megan has released three albums, 2017's River being described by the Guardian as a 'a worldly, mature work'. Megan and Jackie met at Nettlebed Folk Club in 2012, and discovered their voices blended effortlessly, releasing an EP (Wings) in 2016.

Owl Light Trio are Jim Penny on concertina, Jane Griffiths on fiddle and viola and Colin Fletcher on guitar. All three musicians have deep roots in traditional music, share a passion for tunes from Ireland, the UK and Brittany, and draw upon their combined influences to create complex, compelling and heartfelt arrangements. Between them they have performed and recorded with Maddy Prior, Nancy Kerr, Tim van Eyken, Red Dog Green Dog and Duotone. Their debut album ‘Owl Light’ was described by fRoots as 'a fine CD of beautifully-crafted music that is both memorable and clever'. www.owllighttrio.com
