Intarsia

Intarsia

Intarsia is an emerging duo of performers from diverse backgrounds.  Jo May and Sarah Matthews have worked together since 2018, combining voice, violin, viola, octave fiddle, tenor guitar, balafon and a whole range of other percussion instruments. They are just about to release their first full album CD "Sistere" in Autumn 2020.

The sounds of these wooden instruments blend to create intricate delivery of original and traditional material inspired by English songs, European dance tunes, West African rhythms and more.

This project provides a unique opportunity for Jo (Against the Grain, Stepling, Token Women) and Sarah (Cupola, Moirai, Cross o’th Hands) to explore music making they cannot in other areas of practice.  To craft new melodies, investigate unusual time signatures, explore innovative combinations of instruments, and cross boundaries of style and genre.  They will draw you in with lilting, hypnotic, and entrancing music. You can sway, sing or just soak in the sounds.

Intarsia’s performances to date include London, Sidmouth, Bristol and Upton-upon-Severn Folk Festivals and other smaller clubs and venues

Ticketing

To purchase tickets for this event please click on ‘Register’ below. On the next page you can select ticket types and quantities.

We are offering three ticket types for this event:

- Standard ticket is the ‘normal’ price that we would charge for the event
- Pay a bit more is for those who can afford to, and would like to help support live music and our artists
- Pay a bit less is for those who would find the standard ticket a bit of a stretch, for whatever reason

You can purchase whichever ticket you like; you don’t need to give a reason, and you won’t be asked for any proof of need. For online events you only need to purchase one ticket per household/computer.

We are trialling this ticket system to help make our events more accessible to more people, and to allow those who would happily pay a bit more to do so easily, helping us to subsidise tickets for those who can’t afford them.
